The Democracy Fallacy
Yet again the wife of war criminal Barack Obama has stepped into the spotlight to gaslight people into voting "blue no matter who" in 2022. In her statement, she said that "We've got to vote like the future of our democracy depends on it.", which for any leftist in this country or many other nations is laughable for many reasons.
Before I get too far into this, it should be stated that this is nothing more than the same message we heard in 2016, 2018, 2020, and recently in the 2021 elections. It's a classic tactic of the democratic party that preys upon the fears, misunderstandings, and cult mentality of the democratic voter base.
The first fallacy in this statement is the idea that the United States is a democracy and not a corporate oligarchy. It should be very obvious to anyone that is an independent or member of a left-wing party that the United States is not a democracy, unfortunately though, many in the Democratic voting block believe that we are a democracy. But if we were a democracy, we would have a very different picture come every election cycle. Instead of two right-wing parties fighting for practically every position in government from local to federal office, we would see third parties sharing an equal stage and opportunity to win these elections. In a democracy, we would see a system exist where every person's vote counted equally and had a true impact on the outcome of the election.
Instead, we have a system where both major parties spend countless millions of dollars suing third-party candidates off of the ballot, rewriting laws to make ballot access even more impossible, and spreading lies about how we are a threat to the " democracy" they claim exists. Instead of a thriving democracy under threat, we have a system where corporations and lobbyists funnel hundreds of millions of dollars into the campaign accounts of both major parties candidates, not to favor one over the other but rather to place themselves in the debt of the winning candidate no matter their party. Once in office, these candidates forget the people that elected them and serve at the will of their corporate donors.
As if we didn't have more reasons to laugh at this statement, the hypocrisy breaks in with it coming from the wife of a president who subverted democracy in countless countries, authorized criminal drone strikes in countless nations, and has the blood of innocent civilians on his hands. During his eight years in office, Barrack Obama continued existing US-backed coup attempts and even started new ones. Most famously, the Obama administration backed the arab spring, which led to the ousting of Muammar Gaddafi of Libya in 2011. This singular action destabilized a nation which is still suffering from these actions to this day.
In the end, Michelle Obama's words shouldn't even be taken with a grain of salt. They should be ignored as yet another attempt to capitalize on the fears of people to secure power for her chosen party. People as a whole need to step away from this corrupt system, end their stranglehold on our lives and rise together for change.
